In 2003 Wayne Hazle filmed the first two episodes in his series “The Pen”. It is an anthology that follows an ornate fountain pen as it goes through the lives of various owners. Think “The Red Violin” and “Twenty Bucks” meets “Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories”.

It is present day in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. A mysterious antique fountain pen finds its way into the hands of Ryan Jackson, a corporate lawyer who seems to have it all, a great career, a loving wife and a child on the way. Suddenly, Ryan is faced with a moral choice that can destroy everything he has worked for. Story #1 of “The Pen” series is called “The Crusader”

In story #2, Jenna, is a young woman trying to hold her musical band together. As the pen comes into her life, so does her long lost father, now dying of cancer. In one day together, they try make up for all they have missed.

Future stories in the series will include a gangbanger trying to go straight, a woman going through postpartum depression, an obsessive fan and a marketing executive who gets a chance to redeem herself.
