June 2005 – Vagabond makes quarterfinals of American Accolades

LOS ANGELES June 1st – Wayne Hazle’s screenplay Vagabond, made it to the quarterfinals of the American Accolades Screenwriting Contest.


February 2005 – The Crusader, airs at the Santa Barbara African Heritage Film Festival

LOS ANGELES February 28 – The Crusader, part 1 of the anthology series The Pen, was presented at the 2005 Santa Barbara African Heritage Film Festival, held February 26th thru the 28th in Santa Barbara, California.

Production for The Crusader was completed in July 2003.

January 2005 – Jaguar Films begins development of Vagabond

LOS ANGELES January 1st - Jaguar Films started work with producer Sherri James and South Street Studios to bring Vagabond to the screen. Sherri James is an experienced producer with a long list of credits.

Vagabond, the winner of the 2004 BHERC Grand Prize in its Screenwriting Contest, is a story of faith and redemption. A callous Los Angles real estate developer, going through an emotional and spiritual crisis, becomes obsessed with an unidentified junkie who dies on the streets of Los Angeles. He gets the ashes of the Jane Doe and goes on a quest to return her to her family.

December 2004 – The Pen, Selected for the Online Diversity Film Festival

The Pen series was chosen to be part of the Online Diversity Film Festival. The festival films will be screened September 21 – 24 in Washington D.C.

The Online Diversity Film Festival offers filmmakers’ months of continuous exposure to the national, and international distribution community throughout the entire year! Designed to showcase broadcast quality, English-language, productions from up to 200 filmmakers of color from the United States and abroad.

November 2004 – Wayne Hazle wins Grand Prize BHERC Screenwriting Contest

LOS ANGELES November 6th – Wayne Hazle’s screenplay Vagabond won the grand prize of the first Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center’s Screenwriting Contest. As part of the winning, Wayne was presented with a plaque for his achievement. Vagabond was performed by professional actors in front of a live audience. Through BHERC, Wayne Hazle has been set up with meetings with various film executives and agencies in the Hollywood area.

Vagabond is a story of faith and redemption. June 2004 “ The Crusader Airs in the San Francisco Black Film Festival

LOS ANGELES June 12th – “ The Crusader and Just One Perfect Day were selected as part of the 60 films chosen for presentation at the 2004 San Francisco Black Film Festival held June 9th thru the 13th in San Francisco, California.

Written and Directed by Wayne Hazle of Jaguar Films, The Crusader is the first in a six part series called The Pen. The Crusader introduces us to Ryan Jackson, a successful corporate lawyer and dedicated husband, with a child on the way. Ryan is faced with a moral decision that will force him to choose between the careers he has built and the family he cherishes.

Production for The Crusader was completed in July 2003.

The San Francisco Black Film Festival's mission is to celebrate African American cinema and the African cultural Diaspora and to showcase a diverse collection of films - from emerging and established filmmakers - that highlight the beauty and complexity of the African and African American experience. Our film selections highlight the richness of Black culture while recognizing universal themes and the similarities that exist among all cultures.


October 2003 The Pen 1 & 2 Chosen as part of Imaginates

LOS ANGELES October, 13 – “ The Crusader and Just One Perfect Day were selected as part of the 196 films chosen out of 4711 short film submissions for the 2003/2004 broadcast series Mind Ignite, which showcases the works of established filmmakers, and brilliant emerging short filmmakers from all over the world.

Imaginites has signed to produce a thirteen-part x 56 minutes TV series for distribution in the USA/North America territory (with eventual distribution throughout the world, Australasia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, etc.) for broadcast in 2003/2004. The US TV-partnered show has been pre-licensed and is being sponsored by international advertising brands. The show Mind Ignite, will feature only the trendiest and most avante gard short films, certainly films that cast new light on the short story telling format.

LOS ANGELES Ocotober 4th – “ The Crusader and Just One Perfect Day were selected as part of the 50 films chosen out of 2000 submissions for the 2003 Cocheco Independent Film Festival and aired October 5th in Dover, New Hampshire.

The Cocheco Independent Film Festival, in association with ActorsNY.com was held at The Strand Theater in Dover, New Hampshire. This Festival is a new-juried film competition held in the historic city of Dover, New Hampshire. The weeklong activities will include film showings, film discussions, live musical performances, art exhibits, interactive media forums, an awards banquet, and more.
